How do I check my credit rating? - Debt Advice Foundation
Q

How do I check my credit rating?

A

There are three main credit reference agencies in the UK; CallCredit, Equifax and Experian.  Lenders don’t always choose to share the same information with all three agencies, so the report you get from each might be slightly different.

If you wish to check your credit report, each agency offers its own credit checking service:

  • ClearScore (Equifax partner) is a free service.  You won’t be asked to enter your card details to access your report.
  • CreditExpert (Experian) offers a 30 day free trial.  At the end of this period, you’ll need to pay a monthly subscription.
  • Noddle (CallCredit Information Group) is a free service.  However, to access it, you’ll need to enter your card details.

Whilst it’s never a good idea for someone with unmanageable debt to borrow more money, it is a good idea to check your credit report from each agency regularly, at least once a year, as it may highlight inaccuracies or even fraudulent borrowing.
