What rights do debt collectors have? - Debt Advice Foundation
Q

What rights do debt collectors have?

A

A debt collector is not the same as a bailiff.

A debt collector does not have the same rights as a court appointed bailiff. They can’t enter your home or seize your possessions, they can only discuss repayment arrangements with you.

If you need advice about debt, please call the charity’s debt advice helpline on 0800 043 40 50 to speak to an adviser.
