Where can I get debt consolidation help?
You’ll find lots of companies advertising loan comparison services on the internet and offering debt consolidation help. However, it’s important to remember to seek impartial advice from an independent advisor who will consider all of your options.
Taking out another loan and increasing your debt as a result is seldom the best way to tackle you debt problem (see Is a debt consolidation loan right for me?). There are often many other more appropriate solutions that will actually reduce you debt (see IVA, Debt Relief Order and Bankruptcy).
- If you would like to talk to someone about your options because you’re unsure whether debt consolidation is right for you, Debt Advice Foundation’s helpline Advisors are available for you to talk to in confidence.
- There is also a large Q&A section on this website that might be able to help you answer any specific debt consolidation questions you have.
You can read more about Debt Consolidation and whether it is suitable for your situation in our Debt Consolidation section.
Debt Advice Foundation is a registered UK charity offering free, confidential support and advice on any aspect of debt, including Debt Consolidation. If you need to talk to someone about Debt Consolidation or would like to discuss the alternatives, please call to speak to an adviser.
