Household income by age-group

Figure 6.1 shows that the 35-44 age group has the highest annual net household income (£25,534), whilst 16-24 age group has the lowest (£13,417). This disparity is probably due, in no small part, to the number of income contributing adults in the household.

Figure 6.2 shows that South East (£27,010), East Anglia (£25,297) and South West (£24,546) have the highest annual net incomes, which we'd expect given these regions also have the highest corresponding levels of debt. The lowest average regional income is Northern Ireland with £18,626.
