CAB Figures Reveal Increase In Those Seeking Debt Advice For Priority Debts
Citizens Advice Bureau has recently published figures indicating those seeking debt advice on priority debts such as council tax have significantly increased. The figures show enquiries about water supply debts are up 18% on last year in addition council tax and telephone debt enquiries both increased 7% on last year’s results.
Citizens Advice Bureau has recently published figures indicating those seeking debt advice on priority debts such as council tax have significantly increased. The figures show enquiries about water supply debts are up 18% on last year in addition council tax and telephone debt enquiries both increased 7% on last year’s results.
The figures also revealed that enquiries regarding rent arrears to private landlords increased by 18%, which given the recent cut in mortgage repossession projections by the Council of Mortgage Lenders (CML), suggests tenants have felt the recession bite harder than homeowners – perhaps because homeowners have benefitted from falling interest rates whilst rental incomes have remained stable.
