Consumer Protection a Priority With 200th Rogue Claims Company Closure
The Ministry of Justice has announced its claims management regulation unit has closed its two-hundredth charlatan claims company since its launch in 2007. The announcement comes as the unit underlined their determination to eradicate misleading, aggressive and in some cases fraudulent marketing.

The head of the unit, Kevin Rousell, commented ‘Many of these firms provide a valued service, helping people who might not otherwise be able to afford to have access to justice but there are some which mislead people or carry out various kinds of malpractice, deliberately or otherwise, and we are working hard to ensure they either bring their practices in line, or stop altogether.’The news comes as the Committee of Advertising Practice announced a tougher stance on debt management firms making misleading claims about fees.
