We are delighted to confirm that we have been chosen as a finalist in this year’s Credit Today Awards, Money Advice Initiative category.

More than 180 entries were submitted for the 22 categories in the Awards, which showcase best practice across the UK loans and debt services industry.

The nomination is for a peer-to-peer financial education project which has been developed with Debt Advice Foundation support by Southlands High School in Chorley, Lancashire.  Year 10 secondary school pupils have developed their own “Money Diaries” workbooks, devised money management lessons and are now delivering them to Year 6 primary school children.  They are also demonstrating how the lessons work to other Year 10 pupils, who then run sessions for their own feeder primary schools.

The project has already gained accreditation from the Personal Finance Education Group (pfeg) as a pfeg Centre of Excellence, and its core materials, The Money Diaries, have been praised by the Governor of the Bank of England, Mervyn King, Shadow Chancellor of the Exchequer Ed Ball MP and the BBC’s Business Editor Robert Peston.
