Debt Advice Foundation now member of NHAS

Debt Advice Foundation is delighted to announce that we have been given full membership of the National Homelessness Advice Service.

This means that the charity can offer a more holistic service, with our advisers able to receive extra training on all aspects of debt including that caused by homelessness and housing issues.

Debt Advice Foundation is delighted to announce that we have been given full membership of the National Homelessness Advice Service.

This means that the charity can offer a more holistic service, with our advisers able to receive extra training on all aspects of debt including that caused by homelessness and housing issues.

Set up over 20 years ago, the NHAS is a partnership between Shelter and Citizens Advice (CAB), funded by the Department for Communities and Local Government.

NHAS is not a public-facing organisation, but instead aims to prevent homelessness by providing training and support to advisers working in local councils and voluntary advice agencies throughout England.

To become a member, Debt Advice Foundation had to meet certain criteria and professional standards such as being open to audit, having suitably experienced staff and having properly managed safeguarding and confidentiality procedures.

As well as training, member organisations are able to access legal advice and a casework service, as well as housing law and policy updates.
