Debt Advice Foundation shortlisted for charity funding

Financial capability project in the running to receive a share of £120,000

Following a thorough two-stage application process, Debt Advice Foundation’s educational programme DebtAware has been announced as one of five campaigns to potentially win a share of funds from the OneFamily Foundation.

OneFamily is a customer-owned financial services company who have set up the OneFamily Foundation. This new Charity Fund initiative aims to support projects which help families to ease their financial strain. In 2016 over £800,000 was awarded by the Foundation to such schemes.
Although five organisations have been shortlisted, only THREE UK charities will be given a donation from the fund in 2017.
If you, or someone you know, is a OneFamily customer, you can help us to become one of those three. From 23rd October 2017, OneFamily customers will be given the opportunity to vote for the campaign of their choice. The three charities who receive the highest number of votes will be awarded an average of £40,000.
If Debt Advice Foundation is successful, the donation will be used to support our financial education wing, DebtAware. In practical terms this will mean providing the training of Money Mentors and supplying primary schools with the resources they need to complete the financial education programme with their pupils for years to come. The course analyses many aspects of money management, such as budgeting, understanding credit and debt, savings and planning for the future.

Voting closes on Friday 17th November and the winning charities will be announced on Wednesday 29th November.
