Bank of England visits Debt Advice Foundation’s Offices

Chief Economist learns about the charity’s financial capability work

Debt Advice Foundation recently welcomed the Bank of England to the home of DebtAware, the charity’s national financial education programme.

Andy Haldane, the Bank’s Chief Economist, and John Young, the BofE’s North West Agent, were hosted by CEO David Rodger, Chair of the Board of Trustee’s Dennis Benson OBE and DebtAware Education Manager Brian Souter MBE.
The informal gathering covered a wide range of topics; from the strategic aims of the programme to the vital subjects the course covers and the unique way the charity delivers its money lessons within schools.
Speaking after the meeting, Education Manager Brian Souter said;
“It is fantastic to see such an important institution take an active interest in financial capability in schools.
“It is clear that Andy and his team strongly believe in the need for financial capability aimed at children and young people, via programmes such DebtAware.
“We look forward to welcoming the Bank along to one of our lessons in the future, so they can really see the programme in action.”
